BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The Electric Holding Company of Generation, Transmission & Distribution (TAVANIR) intends to build solar panel stations for the agricultural sector in rural areas that can produce a total of 3,000-megawatt hours of electricity, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, for this purpose, it is planned to gradually transfer technical knowledge to the country and manufacture equipment domestically. According to preliminary estimates on the plan, $1.5 billion is to be invested.

“Tenders will be organized on a regular basis for the creation of solar panel stations. First of all, 3 Iranian electricity distribution companies will hold tenders in the near future for the construction of stations that can produce 150 megawatt-hours of electricity,” the report said.

As irrigation systems and wells are supplied with electricity in rural areas, the generation of electricity by solar panel stations is in the spotlight, the report said.

“Investors' money spent on the construction of solar panel power plants will be returned to them in two forms. First, money for each kilowatt-hour of electricity will be paid in rials (Iranian currency) at a price set by the Iranian Energy Exchange (IRENEX). Secondly, the money for each kilowatt-hour of electricity will be paid in foreign currency (dollar, euro and etc.) at the rate set by the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), and its details will be determined in tenders,” the report said.

According to the report, electricity generated by solar panel stations will be purchased from investors for a period of 20 years.

In this regard, investors can contact Tavanir Company.
