Iran intends to increase exports of petrochemicals

Iran is planning to export 33 million tons of petrochemical products worth $14.2 billion in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, Behzad Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing company’s website.

According to Mohammadi, it is planned to produce 43 million tons of products in the current Iranian year. About 10 million tons of it will be consumed in the country.

The deputy minister added that in general, the revenues of the petrochemical industry will amount $21.5 billion in this year. Thus, the petrochemical industry will become a profitable industry with more than $20 billion, which is important for Iran.

“A total of 34 million tons of final products were produced in the petrochemical industry over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021). Of this, 24 million tons were exported, 10 million tons were consumed within the country and brought about $15 billion in revenues,” he said.

The director noted that 67 petrochemical facilities received 40 million tons of fuel worth $6 billion from upstream.
