Turkmenistan has started supplying electricity to Kyrgyzstan since August of this year, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.
Turkmenistan exported 19.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Kyrgyzstan from the beginning of August through August 9, 2021.
Turkmenistan will supply 501.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity to Kyrgyzstan from August through December 2021, the report says.
The corresponding agreement was reached during the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, carried out within the framework of Zhaparov's official visit to Turkmenistan.
The trade turnover between the countries increased by up to 30 percent in 2020, compared to 2019, amounting to $ 11.7 million.
According to the plan, the trade turnover between the countries should grow by 10-20 percent in the near future.
