NC KazMunayGas JSC took 1st place in the rating of the 50 best companies for disclosing non-financial information in corporate reports based on the results of work for 2019, Trend reports citing the press service of the company.
According to the information, the rating was carried out by PwC Kazakhstan among 107 organizations. The study assessed the quality and availability of ESG information in annual reports and reports on sustainable development of Kazakhstani companies published in 2020.
It is noted that the purpose of the rating is to provide more information to the public and investors about Kazakhstani business, increase the level of transparency and give an incentive to the market to move faster, using the practices of advanced countries.
The assessment criteria included such disclosure blocks as sustainable development management, social policy, environmental impact and corporate governance. In addition, additional points were awarded for the clarity and quality of the presentation of information.
“Based on the results of the preparation of the TOP-50 rating, we noted a positive trend that organizations that disclose non-financial information strive in their disclosure to the best world practices and standards. The best in terms of disclosure were companies working with foreign investors and creditors (including exporters, public companies and organizations with foreign participation in the capital),” the report says.
“In its activities, KazMunayGas adheres to the highest standards in the field of sustainable development, the company has implemented a corporate governance system that meets the best international practices and has established an effective dialogue with stakeholders. In order to increase the transparency of disclosure of information on ESG, our company has been publishing reports in accordance with the GRI Standards on an annual basis since 2012. The 1st place in the rating confirms that we are moving in the right direction,” Director of the Strategy and Investment Portfolio Management Department of KMG Aisha Turebayeva noted.
