Iran has started extraction from well No. 31 in Iran-Iraq joint Naft shahr oil field (called Naft Khana in Iraq) in the Kermanshah Province (western Iran), an official of Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), Parviz Salehvand said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official emphasized that a number of drilling operations were carried out on the well and domestically produced equipment was used in these operations. Thus, daily 500,000 barrels of crude oil began to be extracted from this well.

Salehvand added that drilling operations on wells No. 11 of the Naft shahr oil field are underway. Work on this well will be completed in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2021) and as a result, daily 500,000 barrels of crude oil will be extracted from this well.

“Crude oil extracted from the wells of the Naft shahr field will be transported to the Naft shahr Oil Center, and after the first refining to the Kermanshah Oil Refining Company,” he said.

Reportedly, it is estimated Iran's Naft Shahr oil field contains about 692 million barrels of crude oil. Iran extracts daily 5,000 barrels of crude oil from this field. Within the plan to maintain and increase extraction from the field, it is planned to be drilled 1 new well and repaired 3 wells and $30 million will be spent in this regard.
