SOCAR significantly increases natural gas consumption for operations in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has significantly increased the natural gas consumption for operations in the country, which stood at 1.215 billion cubic meters in 2020, as compared to 711.336 million cubic meters in 2019, Trend reports with reference to the company.

SOCAR’s diesel and gasoline consumption in Azerbaijan stood at 28,291 tons and 5,914 tons, respectively in 2020. In 2019, the company consumed 40,848 tons of diesel and 6,404 tons of gasoline.

SOCAR Turkey Energy reduced diesel consumption from 1,227 tons in 2019 to 679 tons. The company used 783.514 million cubic meters of natural gas in 2020, as compared to 834.683 million cubic meters in 2019. No gasoline was used by the company in the reporting periods. SOCAR Energy Georgia’s gasoline consumption dropped from 572 tons to 483 tons, diesel consumption fell from 367 tons to 309 tons, while natural gas consumption rose from 0.99 tons to 1 ton.

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

SOCAR conducts various petroleum activities in countries such as Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Switzerland, Germany and Ukraine, including trading activities, mainly in Switzerland, Singapore and Nigeria.
