SOCAR’s energy consumption drops slightly

Energy consumption of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR fell from 2.867 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019 to 2.843 billion kilowatt-hours in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the company.

Energy consumption of SOCAR in Azerbaijan stood at 1.100 billion kilowatt-hours in 2020, as compared to 1.220 billion kilowatt-hours in 2019, according to the company's Sustainability Report 2020.

SOCAR Turkey consumed 1.698 billion kilowatt-hours in 2020 versus 1.598 billion kilowatt-hours a year before. SOCAR Georgia saw a decrease in electricity consumption year-on-year from 24.426 million kilowatt-hours in 2019 to 21.566 million kilowatt-hours in 2020.

SOCAR’s subsidiary in Ukraine consumed 11.354 million kilowatt-hours in 2020, as compared to 12.056 million kilowatt-hours in 2019, while SOCAR Switzerland’s energy consumption fell from 12.600 million kilowatt-hours in 2019 to 12.300 million kilowatt-hours in 2020.

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

SOCAR conducts various petroleum activities in countries such as Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Switzerland, Germany and Ukraine, including trading activities, mainly in Switzerland, Singapore and Nigeria.
