BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept.6
By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:
Turkey may consider foreign partnership for gas extraction in the future, Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said, Trend reports citing Turkish media.
He was talking about the prospects for using technical capabilities from abroad to proceed with newly discovered Sakarya gas field.
“We have technical and management capabilities to extract natural gas from our Sakarya Gas Field and deliver it to our country. The technical skills of our engineers, our technological infrastructure, and the project management experience of our institutions for more than half a century are enough to bring Black Sea gas to our country. Therefore, we are not currently looking for a partner. We follow hydrocarbon exploration and production trends all over the world. We also provide services in required areas and apply the methods used all over the world. There are different companies with international experience and human resources. We would like to benefit from these experiences as well. If the conditions are suitable, we may consider such collaborations in the future,” said the minister.
Turkey announced the discovery of Sakarya in August following the drilling of the Tuna-1 well by TPAO's drillship, the Fatih.
Reserve estimates were first announced as 320 Bcm, but were later increased to 405 Bcm after further drilling revealed a second, deeper reservoir.
