Iran talks of its increasing refining capacity

TEHRAN, Iran, Sept. 11

Trend:

The Iran`s refining capacity will increase 1.5 times by the end of the current Iranian administration term (ends on June 2025), Iranian Oil Minister Jawad Owji said, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Upgrading the quantity and quality of the country`s refineries and expanding capacity - are the priorities of the current administration," Owji said on the sidelines of his visit to the Tehran Oil Refinery Company.

"The volume of fuel reserves for power plants is 30 percent less than last year, so all our efforts are to increase the liquid fuel capacity for power plants," he noted.

"Currently, more than 260 million cubic meters of gas are supplied to power plants daily,” he said, expressing hope that with the planned measures, it will be easier for the ministry to supply gas to population during winter.

He promised that before the end of the current Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2022), the cities of Khash, Mirjavah and Zabol will be connected to the national gas network.
