Iran has started to produce two strategic catalysts for petrochemical sector domestically, Trend reports citing Iran’s Smart Catalyst Company’s website.
According to the report, the domestic production of a catalyst for the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene and a catalyst for the synthesis of ammonia will save $70 million a year. Of this, $20 million was saved as a result of local production of the first catalyst, while $50 million as the second catalyst.
The Smart Catalyst Company will produce 1 ton of catalyst for the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene and 3 tons of synthetic ammonia catalyst. Iranian Pars Petrochemical Company and Tabriz Petrochemical Company will use catalysts for the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene, and companies producing urea and ammonia will use synthetic ammonia catalysts.
