By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The electricity generation by the gas units of the Bandar Abbas Thermal Power Plant in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 68 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the head of Iran's Bandar Abbas TPP Hossein Salimi said, Trend reports citing Iran’s Thermal Power Plant Holding Company’s website.

The official emphasized that the gas units of the Bandar Abbas TPP generated more than 103 million kilowatt-hours of electricity within the 6 months.

Salimi added that taking into account the 47 years of operation of the gas units of the TPP, electricity generation in this volume is a record figure.

The Bandar Abbas TPP generated about 2.32 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021). Of this volume, 2.23 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated by steam units and about 84 million kilowatt-hours by gas units.

The Bandar Abbas TPP is one of the main thermal power plants in Iran. The power generation potential of this power plant is 1,330 megawatts. The power plant has 4 steam units, with each unit's generation capacity of 320-megawatt-hours, and 2 gas units, with a generation capacity of 25 megawatt-hours each.
