Azerbaijan analyzing tariff methodology for renewable energy

Azerbaijan is analyzing tariff methodology for renewable energy, Head of Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency under the Ministry of Energy Tabriz Ammayev told Trend.

He noted that Azerbaijan 2030: national priorities for socio-economic development has already been approved and Clean environment and green growth country has been set as one of the five national priorities.

“Azerbaijan pays more attention to the use of renewables and green technologies in line with the priorities for socio-economic development. To this end, we cooperate with a number of international organizations on implementation of pilot projects. Currently, works are underway on the projects for construction of a 240 MW wind power plant and 230 MW solar power plant with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power and United Arab Emirates’ Masdar companies, respectively. We have also signed an Implementation Agreement with bp on cooperation in the evaluation and implementation of a project to build a 240 MW solar power plant in the Zangilan/Jabrayil region,” said Ammayev.

He went on to add that it is planned to construct a floating solar power plant with a total capacity of 100 kW on Lake Boyukshor as part of the Development of Floating Solar Energy Systems project financed by the Asian Development Bank. “At the same time, as part of the project, we work on assessing the potential for construction of solar energy systems in other lakes and water bodies in the country, preparing a preliminary feasibility study for an industrial project and analyzing the tariff methodology for renewable energy.”
