BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 28

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

New diesel filtration plant of the Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC) in the Isfahan Province (central Iran) will be launched next Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2022), said the CEO of EORC Morteza Ebrahimi, Trend reports citing the company’s official website.

The CEO said that there is currently 95 percent physical progress in the construction of this plant, which began 7 years ago (2014).

Ebrahimi added that the plant cost 37.8 trillion rials (about $900 million) and $540 million.

Ebrahimi also stressed that according to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Iran, diesel produced by Iranian refineries must comply in accordance with the Euro 5 standard under environmental regulations. In this regard, the volume of sulfur in diesel production will be lower than PPM50. The plant will also separate daily 300,000 tons of sulfur from diesel.

“In addition, the company is building a Resid Hydrotreater Unit (RHU). Mazut produced in the RHU will be transported to another unit for refining and as a result, light crude oil products will be produced. It is expected that the Resid Hydrotreater Unit will be put into operation in 3 years (March 20, 2024). In total, 15.8 trillion rials (about $378 million) and 683 million euro will be spent on this unit,” he said.

As reported, Iran's Esfahan Oil Refining Company (EORC) was established in 1979. The company produces 12 million liters of gasoline per day following the Euro-5 standard, and 4 million liters of diesel in accordance with the Euro 4 and 5 standards. The company supplies about 23 percent of Iran's oil products.
