Oil and gas production departments of Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s Azneft production union, pumped 2.235 million cubic meters of water into reservoirs in 2020 in order to prevent lower reservoir pressure and 108,500 tons of additional oil was produced as a result of these works, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.
Around 1.874 million cubic meters of water was injected into the reservoirs in offshore fields, as a result of which 101,400 tons of additional oil was produced. At the same time, 360,800 cubic meters of water was pumped into reservoirs of onshore fields, which brought additional 7,100 tons of oil.
About 7,400 tons of additional oil was produced at the fields operated by Azneft as a result of the method for enhancement of the oil output of strata (III stimulation methods). During 2020, Azneft carried out 357 geological measures and extracted additionally 386,300 tons of oil.
As many as 201 geological measures were carried out on offshore fields and 277,700 tons of additional oil was produced consequently, while 156 geological measures carried out on the onshore fields allowed to produce 8,600 tons of additional oil.
