JICA to issue report on Study for Electric Power System in Azerbaijan next year

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will issue a report on Study for Electric Power System in Azerbaijan next year, the company told Trend.

“So far, the study has been mainly carried out from Japan due to travel restriction under the COVID 19 pandemic. We recently conducted the first field survey in Azerbaijan and a couple of more times is planned. The report is expected in 2022,” said JICA.

The company noted that the purpose is to conduct a comprehensive study to grasp the current situation of the energy sector and needs, through analyzing demand and supply data as well as national development plan, power distribution improvement plan, demand and supply focus plan, and other donor and enterprise activity on power sector in Azerbaijan.

“In the study we will consider improvement plans and possible projects in this sector which will contribute to the achievement of electricity security in Azerbaijan.”

As for the other promising areas of cooperation, JICA said that in order to promote economic development and avoid dependence on natural resources, the company provides technical assistance in the agriculture field as one of the basis of domestic economic development towards industrial diversification, as well as emphasizing on development of industrial human resources and improving social services.
