TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.11

Trend:

Iran's steel industry is facing a possible gas shortage supply for the coming winter months, member in the Board of Directors of Iran Steel Producers Association Reza Shahrestani told Trend.

The planned cut will be in two stages during winter, the plan is related to all industries including the steel sector, Shahrestani noted.

He further said that at the first stage, the gas supply would be cut by 30 percent, and there will be further decline by 50 and 70 percent during February.

The government has approved the use of mazut for fuel in the industry sector, to prevent any damage to production and increase of prices.

"Iran Steel Producers Association has requested an export ban to prevent the increase of steel prices and that companies avoid hoarding products during the decline of gas supply, since it would increase price of products such as cement," Shahrestani explained.
