Azerbaijan’s natural gas imports down

Azerbaijan saw a 89.3 percent decrease in natural gas exports year-on-year in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Annual Statistical Bulletin 2021 of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

The country’s natural gas imports fell from 1.40 billion cubic meters in 2019 to 0.15 billion cubic meters in 2020.

GECF estimates that Azerbaijan’s gas imports amounted to 0.25 billion cubic meters in 2011, 0.55 billion cubic meters in 2012, 0.45 billion cubic meters in 2013, 0.31 billion cubic meters in 2014, 0.21 billion cubic meters in 2015, 0.30 billion cubic meters in 2016, 1.63 billion cubic meters in 2017 and 1.84 billion cubic meters in 2018.

The country’s gross natural gas production stood at 35.34 billion cubic meters in 2020, or 6.57 percent more as compared to 33.16 billion cubic meters in 2019.

Its proven gas reserves stood at 1.917 trillion cubic meters in 2020, remaining unchanged from 2019.
