SOCAR projects increase in local manufacturing of fuel products from 2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 29

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has predicted an increase in the local manufacturing of fuel products in the country from 2023, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR said during a media tour to the enterprise, Trend reports.

According to Ahmadov, this issue will be considered at the level of the Azerbaijani government, most likely in 2023.

“In the same year, when we reach production targets in accordance with EURO 5 standards for diesel and gasoline, production volumes will not change and will remain at 6-6.5 million tons per year. In the future, we forecast an increase in total production of oil products. Consequently, there is a need to replace some installations," he said.

In addition, speaking about the growth of fuel production, Ahmadov noted that SOCAR predicts an increase in the production of gasoline.

He also noted that Azerbaijan exports diesel fuel to Georgia and some other countries, while the country practically does not export gasoline.

"This is due to the fact that the domestic demand for both gasoline and diesel fuel has grown in recent years, while production volumes remain the same," Ahmadov said.
