Iran is increasing the power generation capacity of its renewable power plants, the spokesman of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi told Trend.
The country's renewable resources have generated 7.066 million kilowatt electricity per hour from March 21 to October 22, Sigaroudi noted.
The country's wind farms produced 310 megawatt worth of electricity, solar power plants generated 390 megawatt, and small hydroelectric power plants produced the rest, he indicated.
He further elaborated on some details:
- Solar power plants generated 455.5 megawatt of electricity (working on 50.38 percent of production capacity)
- Wind fars generated 310.2 megawatt of electricity (working on 34.31 percent of production capacity)
- Small hydroelectric power plants generated 104.6 megawatt of electricity (production capacity - 11.58 percent)
Sigaroudi went on to claim that the private sector accounted for the major part of the renewable energy generation.
