Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas (KMG) company is working on the development of a Pre-FEED and a feasibility study for a project to create a new gas processing plant in the city of Zhanaozen (Mangistau region), KMG told Trend.

The construction of a modern gas processing plant is planned in accordance with the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.

In October this year, the country's Energy Minister Magzum Mirzagaliyev announced the need to accelerate the construction of a new gas processing plant in the Mangistau region.

According to Mirzagaliyev, the operating gas processing plant - KazGPZ - has a high level of deterioration.

So, KMG noted, for the project of the construction of a new gas processing plant in the city of Zhanaozen, a site for the construction and connection points of the new plant have been identified, as well as a Pre-FEED and a feasibility study of the project is being developed.

"At present, the environmental impact assessment and screening of the impact of the planned activities are carried out in the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan. Work is also underway to organize financing for the project," the company said.

In the near future, it’s planned to make corporate decisions on the further implementation of the project, added the company.
