Iran records decrease in reserves of dams

The water reserves of Iran's dams decreased by 31 percent, within the 79 days of the current water year in the country (September 23 through December 10, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of Iran Water Resources Management Company Firouz Ghasemzadeh said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

The official noted that the water reserves of Iran's dams for the reporting period amounted to about 17.8 billion cubic meters.

Ghasemzadeh added that the inflow of water into the dams amounted to 3.53 billion cubic meters, which is a decrease of 42 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“At present, the capacity of the country's dams is about 50.5 billion cubic meters, of which 35 percent is full,” he said.

According to Ghasemzadeh, the water reserves of the dams in Khuzestan and Tehran provinces are much more than in other provinces.
