Iran to save money following construction of new pipeline – NIORDC

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 17

The construction of a pipeline on transportation of oil products from south-east to north-east of Iran will allow savings of a total of 73 million euros daily, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He made the remark during the signing ceremony of a contract for the construction of the mentioned pipeline on Jan. 15, 2022.

The CEO emphasized that an average of 15 million liters of oil products are consumed daily in the northeast regions of Iran, which are carried by 1,000 tankers.

“Furthermore, 450 tankers are used to export oil products from south-east to the north-west of Iran, as well as to neighboring countries. The construction of the pipeline will allow saving about 40 million euro per day in the transportation of oil products for export,” he added.

On Jan. 15, 2022, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) and the Bank Mellat Iran signed a contract for the construction of a pipeline on the transportation of oil products from the southeast to the north-east of Iran.

According to the contract, the pipeline will allow transport of oil products from Rafsanjan city in the Kerman Province (south-eastern Iran) to Mashhad city in the Razavi Khorasan (northeastern Iran).

The transportation capacity of the pipeline will be 150,000 barrels per day, while the length of the pipeline will be 948 kilometers.

According to preliminary estimates, a total of 372 million euros will be spent on the construction of the pipeline and related work.
