Iran’s MOGPC could resume maximum crude oil extraction in short time

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 15

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's Marun Oil and Gas Production Company (MOGPC) can resume maximum crude oil extraction in 2-3 months, the Executive Director for MOGPC Hamid Kavian told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran's Marun Oil and Gas Production Company currently extracts 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day. About 450,000 barrels are supplied to the Esfahan Oil Refining Company for refining, while 150,000 barrels to oil terminals for export.

"The company's extraction has been reduced by about 60,000-70,000 barrels per day under the plan of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) for US sanctions against Iran," Kavian said.

The director noted that the MOGPC also extracts 30,000 barrels of gas condensate per day. Gas condensate is supplied to Iranian petrochemical companies together with the products of other companies operating under the NISOC.

Kavian also added that the company extracts 570 million cubic feet (about 16 million cubic meters) of rich gas per day and supplies to the Marun Petrochemical Company.

"In addition, the company extracts 6,000 barrels of naphtha per day and supplies to oil terminals for export," he stressed.

The Marun Oil and Gas Production Company, which operates under the auspices of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), extracts oil from 404 oil wells.

The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies, and individuals. The sanctions have resulted in the freezing of Iranian assets abroad.
