Iran resumes gas export to Turkey

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.22

Trend:

Iran has resumed gas export to Turkey after a ten-day cut caused by technical problems, said a reliable source in the Iranian Oil Ministry, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iran has reduced gas export to Turkey due to a gas leak at the Bazargan gas station, but the gas export to Turkey is ongoing, the source noted.

According to the contract between the two countries, each side can halt the gas flow for a ten-day period in case of technical issues, but Iran's gas export will continue following Turkey's request in coming days, with lower volume, the source indicated.

Turkey ordered gas-fuelled power plants to slash gas use by 40 percent after Iran cut gas flows to Turkey for 10 days. Turkish natural gas distributors were asked to reduce supply to 60 percent for large consumers except for gas used for heating.
