By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Electricity generation of the thermal power plants in the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 33 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, CEO of Hormozgan Power Generation Company Reza Mehrani said, Trend reports citing Iran's Thermal Power Plants Holding Company’s website.

There are 7 thermal power plants operating in Iran's Hormozgan Province, which can generate about 3,600 megawatt-hours of electricity in total.

These thermal power plants are:

- The Bandar Abbas TPP with a capacity to generate 1,330 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- The Persian Gulf TPP with a capacity to generate 990 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- Isin TPP with a capacity to generate 648 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- Qeshm TPP with a capacity to generate 340 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- Hormoz TPP with a capacity to generate 162 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- Qeshm Pasargad TPP with a capacity to generate 70 megawatt-hours of electricity,

- Qeshm Mapna TPP with a capacity to generate 50 megawatt-hours of electricity.

According to Mehrani, the province's thermal power plants generated more than 16.7 million megawatt-hours of electricity in 10 months.

“About 55 percent of thermal power plants operating in the Hormozgan Province are owned by the state, while 44 percent - by the private sector,” he added.

The CEO also noted that another unit is expected to be launched at Qeshm TPP until this summer.

Thus, 310 megawatt-hours will be added to the province's overall electricity generation capacity.
