Iran shares estimates on its petrochemical export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 8

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran can export about 30 million tons of petrochemical products in addition to domestic consumption in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Morteza Shah-Mirzaei told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The deputy minister noted that the value of Iran’s petrochemical exports will reach $14 billion by the end of this year.

Shah-Mirzaei added that Iran will produce 65 million tons of petrochemical products this year.

“About 75 percent of petrochemical facilities in Iran are using gas as fuel. Due to the increase in gas consumption in residential facilities in the country in the winter, there are certain restrictions in the petrochemical industry. These restrictions are expected to be reduced with the implementation of various programs,” he said.

The CEO also pointed that there are currently 68 petrochemical facilities in the country.
