The 2022 risk-based plan for corrosion inspection has prepared for Kulevi oil terminal of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, Trend reports with reference to Kulevi terminal.

“Since the founding of Terminal to the present day, management of Terminal is actively implementing the Integrity Management Strategy of BST. One of the important directions of this strategy is a Corrosion Management Strategy, with includes coating application and corrosion monitoring activities. As a result of active coating application works carried out by the professional contractor companies and BST coating team, during the last 5 years major part of the facilities, in particular all of pumps stations, process pipes and valves, major part of firefighting pipes and steel structures of Terminal has been coated with high quality anti-corrosive paints,” reads a message on the terminal’s website.

As for the corrosion inspection and monitoring activities, by the specialized companies of the field, all of the storage tanks, process, firefighting and utility pipelines have been inspected by nondestructive testing methods. Inspection results are documented and included in maintenance plans of the Integrity Management Strategy. As a result of analysis of nondestructive testing results, database for risk-based points and the most susceptible locations to detrimental effects of corrosion has been created. From the above mentioned database, for 2022 risk-based plan for corrosion inspection and monitoring has been generated, which is being followed by NDT inspectors in their current daily activities.

Kulevi Oil Terminal and port is one of the first and the most important investments of SOCAR in Georgia. Kulevi Oil Terminal is designated for the transshipment of oil products – discharge from railway tank cars and vessels, storage in the reservoirs and loading to vessels. The transshipment of oil products was launched in June. The total capacity of the terminal is 10 million tons of liquid bulk oil cargo per year.
