Turkmenistan will consider the possibility of transiting its natural gas through neighboring states to the countries of the Middle and Near East, said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Trend reports citing Orient News.
He made the remark during the working meeting on February 15.
Moreover, Berdimuhamedov instructed to negotiate with interested parties on the transit of Turkmen electricity through neighboring countries.
In addition, the head of the state directed the Turkmen Foreign Affairs Ministry to organize bilateral and multilateral negotiation processes that take the interests of energy resource producers, transit countries, and consumers into account.
Last year, Turkmenistan produced 83.77 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the highest volume in 30 years.
Turkmenistan pays great attention to the creation of oil and gas
processing plants, as well as the export of energy resources to
global markets. Recently, the country has allocated more than 138
million to increase its oil and natural gas production.
Currently, Turkmen electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan and
Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. From January through October 2021, the
country increased its export of electricity by almost 40
percent.
Earlier, the president noted that country intends to export electricity to third countries through Uzbekistan and Iran.
Turkmenistan plans to generate up to 35.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030 and is expected to increase electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025.
