Azerbaijan reduces share of oil in exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.17

The export of crude oil and crude oil products by Azerbaijan stood at 3.505 million tons in January 2022, as compared to 4.014 million tons in January 2021, showing a decrease of 12.68 percent year-on-year, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

The value of exported oil amounted to $2.031 billion in January 2022, or 49.44 percent more than $1.359 billion in the same period in 2021.

The share of oil and crude oil products in Azerbaijan’s total exports in January 2022 was 65.81 percent versus 83.73 percent in January 2021.

There are three main oil pipelines transporting oil from Azerbaijan to its neighbours and on to world markets: Baku-Novorossiysk Pipeline, Baku-Supsa Pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline.

In addition, railway lines traversing the length of Azerbaijan are also used to convey oil to the Batumi and Kulevi terminals located on the Black Sea along the coast of Georgia.
