BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. The Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant in the Qazvin Province (northern Iran) generated 11.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Deputy Head of Shahid Rajaee TPP, Javad Dusti said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.
The official noted that electricity generation of the Shahid Rajaee TPP has increased by 1 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
"Of the mentioned volume, 5.4 billion kilowatt-hours were generated by the combined cycle units of the thermal power plant, while 6.21 billion kilowatt-hours - by steam units," he said.
Meanwhile, in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 20 through March 20, 2022), the thermal power plant has generated 675 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, Dusti added.
The official also pointed out that of this, 336 million kilowatt-hours were generated by the combined cycle units of the thermal power plant, while 339 million kilowatt-hours - by steam units.
The Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant has 13 units. Four of them are steam units each generation capacity of 250 megawatt-hours, and the rest are combined cycle units. In total, the TPP can generate 2,040 megawatts of electricity.
The Shahid Rajaee TPP plays a key role in supplying electricity to Iran, by generating 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
