BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Iran currently has no plans to build new gas refineries in the country, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji told Tasnim News Agency, Trend reports.

The minister noted that many of the country's existing gas refineries operate below their refining capacity, because these refineries are not supplied with enough fuel.

Owji also added that it is possible to increase the gas refining capacity of the existing gas refineries.

“Due to the decline in extraction from some gas fields in the country in recent years, certain operations have already begun to increase gas pressure in some fields, including the Parsian gas field,” he said.

At the same time, a number of programs are being prepared in the country for the development of newly discovered gas fields. Gas to be extracted from the mentioned fields is planned to be transported to existing gas refineries, Owji pointed out.

The minister stressed that with the development of the Kish and North Pars gas fields over the next few years, the production of the country's gas refineries will increase.

At present, Iran has capacity to extract and process over 1 billion cubic meters of gas per day.
