Azerbaijan’s revenues from gas sales soar

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Azerbaijan reduced natural gas exports by 7.75 percent from January through March 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021, with total volume of exports falling from 6.165 billion cubic meters (bcm) to 5.687 bcm, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

The value of gas exports rose by almost 4 times from $867 million in the first quarter of 2021 to $ 3.464 billion in the same period in 2022.

Natural gas accounted for 43.4 percent of Azerbaijan’s total exports from January through March 2022, versus 20.95 percent in the same period in 2021.

Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Europe began on December 31, 2020 with the commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor comprising of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion, the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). TAP’s gas supplies to Europe has to date reached 11 billion cubic meters.
