BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. The fact of embezzlement of funds in amount of 20.5 billion tenge (about $45,100), allocated for the modernization of oil refineries, was revealed in Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanat Elimanov said at a meeting with the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Akorda (residence of Kazakh President).

According to the chairman of the agency, Kazakhstan pays special attention to solving social problems.

Activities continue to reveal the facts of unjustified increases in tariffs in the field of public utilities and the destruction of monopolies within the framework of the "Tariff" project, Elimanov said.

The case is being investigated against officials of the Energy Ministry, akimat (administration) of the region and electronic trading platforms based on speculation about the sale of liquefied gas, in the Mangystau region.

Noting the importance of the agency's activities to fight the legalization of proceeds from crime and reduce the shadow economy, the Kazakh president instructed Zhanat Elimanov to ensure strict compliance with the law in all criminal cases under investigation in relation to business.
