BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Today, there are many prerequisites for the oil & gas industry of Azerbaijan to become one of the drivers of the economy’s digital transformation, Pavel Likhnitskiy, CEO, DIS Group, told Trend.
“The key role of the oil industry is enshrined in the Oil Strategy of Heydar Aliyev, and the economic situation in the world requires an urgent increase in the supply of Azerbaijani oil. Accelerated digital transformation based on the data can become the tool to promptly boost exploration and production and increase supplies, primarily to Europe and Turkey. This will be a unique experience for the oil and gas enterprises of Azerbaijan, which in the future can be used in other sectors of the national economy, as well as in other countries,” he noted.
Likhnitskiy pointed out that recent changes on the world market have led to an explosive growth in demand for Azerbaijani oil: according to preliminary estimates, production in 2022 will increase to 0.77 million barrels per day.
“This is related to the need to meet the increased demand, primarily of European consumers. They, as well as China, India, Turkey, Canada and Israel account for over 75 percent of Azerbaijani exports,” he added.
