BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) intends to double its crude oil export potential from the Kharg Island in the Bushehr Province (southern Iran), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the NIOC, Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

He made the remark during his visit to Kharg Island on May 5, 2022.

According to Khojasteh Mehr, the export potential will be increased in parallel with the increase in crude oil, gas and gas condensate extraction in the country.

The deputy minister added that in this direction, the opportunity of the Iranian Oil Terminals Company will be increased because the company is the most important company in Iran in oil exports. For this purpose, it must be equipped with modern systems and infrastructure.

“A number of steps are being taken to increase the country's crude oil extraction capacity to 5.7 million barrels per day over the next eight years. This means that the country is ready to increase exports,” the CEO noted.

There are 9 platforms at the Kharg oil terminal in Iran. Iran has reportedly potential to export 8-10 million barrels of crude oil per day from this oil terminal.
