Iran and Iraq review development of shared oilfields

TEHRAN, Iran, June 23. Iran and Iraq are reviewing the development of shared oilfields in a newly formed joint working group, said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Mehdi Safari, Trend reports citing SHANA.

"The joint working group will review the bilateral cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the energy sector," he said.

He pointed out that the group is expected to solve the issues between the two sides in form of management, operations, and maintenance agreement (MOM) or memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Iran and Iraq signed a contract for developing the Sohrab joint oil field on February 6, 2022. Sohrab joint oil field is located northwest of Ahvaz city and along the Iran-Iraq border and is shared with the Hoveyzeh oil field in Iraq.
