BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. Generally, Iran’s power plants generated more than 90 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to June 28), an official of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH) Esmaeil Namazi said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official emphasized that more than 96 percent of the mentioned volume is generated by the country's thermal power plants.

Namazi added that in order to increase electricity generation, the country's thermal power plants have been overhauled. The repairs were carried out more comprehensively than in previous years to eliminate the electricity shortage in the summer months.

"Given the increase in electricity consumption in the country, it is planned to further increase the generation of thermal power plants in the coming days," he said.

On June 28, electricity consumption in Iran exceeded 66,000 megawatt-hours.

In total, Iran's all power plants including, thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, and etc. generated 359 million megawatt-hours of electricity over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). About 95 percent of this is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.
