BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Commissioning of a polypropylene plant is nearing completion in Kazakh Atyrau region, Board Chairman of Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas (KMG) Magzum Mirzagaliyev said at a meeting with country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports via president’s press service.

According to Mirzagaliyev, the commissioning of the plant is expected in August this year.

KMG is currently implementing a project for the construction of the first Gas Chemical Complex (GCC) in history of Kazakhstan, located in the Atyrau region.

The production capacity of GCC will be 500,000 tons of polypropylene per year.

Feasibility research has been completed as part of second phase of polyethylene production.

The production capacity of the plant will be 1.25 million tons of High-density polyethylene (HDPE) per year.
