BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14. The total electricity generation in Azerbaijan exceeded 13.5 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) in first half of 2022, which is 2.3 percent or 315.6 million kWh more than the same period in 2021, Azerbaijani Energy Ministry told Trend.
According to the ministry, Azerbaijan reduced electricity imports by 71.1 million kWh during the reporting period.
Azerbaijan produced over 2.2 billion kWh of electricity in June 2022, imported - 10.8 million kWh, exported - up to 126.2 million kWh.
The power plants of Azerenerji OJSC generated about 12.1 billion kWh of electricity in the first half of 2022. At the same time, Thermal Power Plants (TPPs) generated 11.2 billion kWh of electricity, and hydroelectric power plants - 899.6 million kWh of electricity.
The power plants of State Energy Service of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic generated 210.9 million kWh of electricity from January through June 2022 (TPPs - 120.4 million kWh, hydroelectric power plants - 62.2 million kWh, solar power plants - 28.3 million kWh, autonomous power plants - over 1.1 billion kWh, and wind power plants of Azerishig OJSC - 32.7 million kWh.
Ministry added that Azerbaijan exported 664.1 million kWh of electricity in the first half of 2022, and imported 71.1 million kWh.
