BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. Drilling work in Saadatabad, Danan and Naft shahr oil fields of Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) have been completed, Executive Director of the ICOFC Mehdi Heydari said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
The drilling work has been carried out as part of plan of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) to maintain and increase production in oil fields.
Heydari said that drilling work was completed with the drilling of the last well in the Danan field. A total of 17 wells were drilled and repaired within the framework of the plan to maintain and increase crude oil production in the mentioned three fields.
“According to preliminary estimates, a total of 13,000 barrels will be added to the ICOFC’s daily crude oil production from the three fields,” he added.
The director also noted that 11 out of 17 wells were drilled in the Danan oil field and will be put into use after technical work. Thus, it is expected that 11,000 barrels will be added to daily crude oil production from this field.
The Iranian Central Oil Fields Company has 84 oil and gas fields in 11 provinces of Iran. So far, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed.
At present, the ICOFC has capacity to extract about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Iran's Saadatabad oil field is located in the Fars Province (southern Iran). As the field is connected to the Sarvestan oil field, their extraction volumes are calculated together. So, it is estimated that the two fields, which cover an area of 242 square kilometers, contain 1.4 billion barrels of crude oil.
The Danan oil field is in the operating zone of the West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC), which is one of three subsidiaries of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC). Oil extraction from the Danan oil field, which discovered in 2007, began in 2014. With the full development of the Danan oil field, production from this field will double to 25,000 barrels per day.
It is estimated Iran's Naft Shahr oil field contains about 692 million barrels of crude oil. Iran extracts daily 5,000 barrels of crude oil from this field. Crude oil extracted from the wells of the field is transported to the Naft shahr Oil Center, and after the first refining to the Kermanshah Oil Refining Company.
