BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. In general, Iran's position is that Iran is ready to trade gas with Russia, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

He made the remark after the online event in Tehran dedicated to the launch of a gas pipeline from Hormozgan Province to Kish Island on August 22, 2022.

Recently, some media have published news about Iran importing gas from Russia.

The deputy minister stressed that according to Iran's geographical position, it can swap the gas in the directions provided by the country that delivered it.

“Within the government week in Iran (August 24 through August 30, 2022), the development of a number of oil and gas fields will begin in Iran's Khuzestan Province and the Persian Gulf,” Khojasteh Mehr said.

On August 22, a 127-kilometer gas pipeline from Iran’s Hormozgan Province to Kish Island was launched. A total of $350 million has been spent on the laying of the mentioned gas pipeline, and 28 million cubic meters of gas can be transported daily via the pipeline.
