BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. Iran will begin the development of unused reservoirs of several oil fields, including the Marun, Ahvaz, Aghajari and other oil fields, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr told reporters, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

He made the remark on the sidelines of the event dedicated to the presentation of a new Iranian made wellhead in Tehran on August 23, 2022.

The CEO said that in this regard, the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) presented the work program to the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Under the program, $5.5 billion is estimated to be spent.

Khojasteh Mehr added that discussions are being conducted with the country’s petrochemical companies in order to provide the needed funds.

“Certain equipment related to and oil and gas sector, including wellheads are manufactured by several companies of the US. The companies refuse to sell the mentioned equipment to Iran due to US sanctions against Iran. For this reason, Iran's Wetco manufactured the needed wellhead domestically by order of the NIOC. Some 4 more wellheads have been ordered by the NIOC and two of them have already been manufactured,” he noted.

According to the deputy minister, the working pressure of this wellhead is 15,000 PSI. However, it successfully passed the 22,000 PSI test.

Khojasteh Mehr also pointed out that the NIOC will soon order 14 new types of equipment from local manufacturers.
