BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. The 1st unit of the "Besat" combined cycle power plant, which can generate 160 megawatt hours of electricity, was launched in order to supply electricity to selected oil and gas facilities in Bushehr Province (southern Iran), on August 29, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.
Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji, Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr and other officials attended the event held in this regard.
The "Besat" combined cycle power plant's electricity will be transmitted to 5 gas refineries of South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) and Siraf Refinery, as well as increase the capacity of the electricity network in Asaluyeh County of Bushehr Province.
Overall 450 million euro, $234,000, and 365 billion rials (about $8.69 million by official exchange rate) has been spent on construction and launch of the 1st power unit.
A total of 3 units are planned to be built at the "Besat" combined cycle power plant.
If the mentioned 3 power units are put into operation, the power plant will have the capacity to generate 480 megawatt-hours of electricity. When this station is fully operational, 350 people will be employed.
