BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will support Kazakhstan in reducing methane emissions, Trend reports via the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan.

The signing of the relevant document was held during the meeting of Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev, and EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux.

Reduction in methane emissions and improvement of monitoring, reporting and verification in various sectors is an important task for Kazakhstan. The EBRD intends to support Kazakhstan's efforts in this direction with a focus on the main sectors - sectors such as the transportation of energy and gas, agribusiness, municipal waste and wastewater services.

As part of the implementation of the memorandum, both sides are ready to start joint implementation of projects in the field of reducing methane emissions, as well as to consider the use of opportunities for new regulatory tools in this area in accordance with the best international practice and standards.

The memorandum will help Kazakhstan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
