BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. The gas consumption in Iran amounted to 109 billion cubic meters during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

According to Joulaei, 39.3 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed by residential buildings and small industrial facilities in 6 months, which is an increase of 3.9 percent, in other words, 1 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“In addition, 26.9 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed by Iran's large industrial facilities (petrochemical plants, steel plants and other plants), for six months, which is an increase of 12 percent or 3 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

The official also added that 43.4 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed by Iran’s Thermal Power Plants within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 5 percent or about 2 billion cubic meters compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Joulaei stressed that in total, about 129 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied into gas pipelines in Iran over 6 months.

At present, Iran's gas production is reportedly more than 1 billion cubic meters per day.
