BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. In general, Iran’s thermal power plants generated more than 310 million megawatt-hours of electricity, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), Deputy Director of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), Nasser Eskanadari said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.
“Currently, a number of repairs are being carried out in some of the country’s TPPs. All planned repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the second month of next Iranian year (May 21, 2023),” Eskanadari said.
The deputy director emphasized that the thermal power plants account for 81 percent of the country's overall electricity generation capacity.
At present, there are 134 thermal power plants operating in Iran. So far, 612 power units have been installed in the mentioned power plants. The power generation capacity of Iran’s TPPs is currently 73,695 megawatt-hours.
