BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. Iran’s production from the Danan oil field in Ilam Province (western Iran) is expected to increase to 17,000 barrels per day, by the end of the first month of the next Iranian year (April 20, 2023), Executive Director of Iran's West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC), Ali Rezaee said at the meeting of the energy committee, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“In order to increase the production of the Danan oil field, it is planned to drill a total of 11 wells in this field. Within this framework, 4 wells have been drilled and put into operation so far. Currently, 14,000 barrels of crude oil are produced daily from Danan oil field,” Rezaee said.

The director added that 3 more wells will be drilled and launched by the end of the 1st month of next Iranian year.

According to him, the oil fields in the west of the country (in the territory of West Oil and Gas Production Company) contain a total of 18.6 billion barrels of crude oil. Of the mentioned volume, about 16.7 billion barrels account for active oil fields, while the rest for inactive oil fields.

Rezaee also pointed out that it is possible to produce a total of 2.59 billion barrels of crude oil from the oil fields in the west of the country. Of this, 2.49 billion barrels can be produced from active oil fields, and 180 million barrels from inactive oil fields.

The Danan oil field is in the operating zone of the West Oil and Gas Production Company (WOGPC), which is one of three subsidiaries of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC). Oil extraction from the Danan oil field, which discovered in 2007, began in 2014. With the full development of the Danan oil field, production from this field will double to 25,000 barrels per day.

Iran's West Oil and Gas Production Company has been operating since 1999 and covers the Kermanshah, Ilam and Lorestan provinces of Iran. The company can produce 165,000 barrels of crude oil and 7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
