BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 2. Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) plans to begin implementation of a number of projects for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), CEO of the company, Reza Noshadi told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Noshadi, the company is expected to start construction of the Chilvand gas pressure facility in Iran’s Ardabil Province in north-west of the country.

“Also, the construction of the 2nd plant of Ilam Gas Refining Company in Ilam Province (western Iran) is expected to be completed during the current year,” he added.

The CEO noted that the company also plans to launch the construction of a gas pipeline from Minab County to Kuh-Mobarek city of Jask County in Iran’s Hormuzgan Province in the south of the country, in order to export gas from Iran to Oman.

“The laying of a 400 km long gas pipeline from Iran’s Isfahan Province to the Qom Province is also among the company’s plans for the current year,” he said.

Noshadi pointed out that within the projects on several underground gas storage facilities, including Shourijeh, Sarajeh, etc., researches have been completed and contractor companies have been identified. Thus, implementation works will begin in the near future.

“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), 1,067 kilometers of gas pipelines were laid in Iran. A part of it has been put into use, and a part will be put into use this year,” the CEO emphasized.

Iran's gas production is over 1 billion cubic meters per day. Iran says that gas production can increase to 1.5 billion cubic meters if investments worth $71 billion are made in the gas sector.
