BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s crude oil production from the Soroush oil field has been restored by 20,000 barrels per day, CEO of the IOOC Alireza Mehdizadeh said, Trend reports.

According to Mehdizadeh, a high-current power cable between two platforms of the Soroush oil field was damaged at a depth of 45 meters in the Persian Gulf. This problem has already been resolved and the damaged power cable has been replaced with a new one.

“As a result, production was restored from 7 wells of the field. Taking into account the pressure in the wells, it was expected that 30,000 barrels of crude oil would be resumed daily,” he added.

The CEO emphasized that Iran's Offshore Oil Company has made substantial efforts over the past two years to increase production and return Iran's offshore oil industry to pre-US and Western sanctions. As a result of the work done, production from Abouzar, Sivand, Esfand, Soroush, and other fields has increased.

Iran's Soroush oil field operates under the Iranian Offshore Oil Company. The field reportedly contains more than 9 billion barrels of crude oil. The field currently produces 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

A contract has been signed between Iran's Offshore Oil Company and Iran's Sahand University of Technology to research the increase in extraction from the field.

Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) was established in 1980 under the auspices of the National Oil Company of Iran. The territory under the control of the IOOC is more than 1,800 square kilometers. The company's oil fields contain 96 million barrels of crude oil reserves, of which 16 million barrels are extractable.

Moreover, there are 180 billion cubic meters of gas reserves in gas fields under the company's control. Of this, more than 120 billion cubic meters are extractable.
