BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Greece spent a total of 65,418,099 euros for imports of Azerbaijani gas in April 2023, as compared to 79,444,080 euros in March, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.
As such, the value of imports showed nearly a 17.6 percent decrease month-on-month.
The country imported 157,418,011 cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in April, compared to 94,300,000 cubic meters in March, an increase by 67 percent.
Azerbaijan’s energy ministry reveals that the country exported 3.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe from January through April 2023. Overall, gas export increased by 10.5 percent year-on-year. In the first four months of this year, Azerbaijan exported 3.4 bcm of natural gas to Türkiye and 1.1 bcm to Georgia. During the reporting period, 1.9 bcm were exported to Türkiye via TANAP (Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline).
Azerbaijan started gas supplies to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor on December 31, 2020. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European leg of the corridor, has a capacity to transport 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, expandable to 20 billion cubic meters.
